Amazon Aurora now supports Aurora MySQL 3 (with MySQL 8.0 compatibility) as a source cluster or blue environment within Amazon RDS Blue/Green Deployments. This enables you to use Blue/Green Deployments for minor version upgrades for Aurora MySQL 3 (with MySQL 8.0 compatibility).

Blue/Green Deployments create a fully managed staging environment that allows you to deploy and test production changes, keeping your current production database safe. With a single click, you can promote the staging environment to be the new production system in as fast as a minute, with no changes to your application and no data loss.
Amazon RDS Blue/Green Deployments is available for all versions of Amazon Aurora with MySQL, Amazon RDS for MySQL 5.7 and higher, and Amazon RDS for MariaDB 10.2 and higher in all AWS Regions, including the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
